Best Collagen Powder For Cellulite, Skin, Nails & Hair

With the growing popularity of collagen supplementation for preventative skin health, it’s essential to understand the core components of what encompasses a quality collagen product in order to gain all of the benefits! Collagen protein is not only what keeps our skin hydrated and glowing but it’s also what allows it to retain structure and firmness while reducing the appearance of fine lines. Aside from our skin, collagen protein also provides key nutrients for our hair and nails that help strengthen, support, and reduce breakage for faster growth.    According to Nutritionist Kim Bowman, not all collagen products are created equally. From collagen skin products to vitamin gummies, there are numerous products available that market the benefits of a premium collagen supplement yet lack the extensive research and lab-testing. Products that haven’t been thoroughly tested are likely to contain a number of ‘ingredient fillers’ including preservatives and/or additives (Ie. refined sugar and toxic heavy metals)! Not to mention there are thousands of topical skincare products with collagen noted in the ingredient list. However, topically applied collagen cannot penetrate our outermost skin layer--the Epidermis--limiting its overall benefit.  Collagen researchers have highlighted the use of collagen powder supplementation as opposed to topical skin care as the most effective way to gain its power-packed nutrients and skincare benefits. Hearthy Collagen Powder has been clinically researched and product-tested, to ensure you retain the purest form of collagen protein. Lab-testing means that quality and care has gone into the development of Hearthy Collagen to efficiently provide your body with all the nutritional benefits of this powerful protein (without the mystery ingredients)! To achieve maximal uptake, powder supplementation with Hearthy’s is highly effective for strengthening skin, hair, and nails in addition to promoting healthy joints and tendons.  What makes Hearthy Collagen a premium supplement?  Active amino acid structure: Collagen plays an essential component to the structural framework of our body. Premium collagen is developed using ‘collagen peptides’ (also known as hydrolyzed collagen) which are made of the same amino acids as collagen yet are easily absorbed by our bodies versus topical skincare. These hydrolyzed collagen peptides are much shorter amino acids than collagen itself allowing them to be taken up more rapidly in our body to stimulate collagen production. Amino acids are collectively beneficial to tissue repair within the body along with cell reproduction to promote strength growth. Clinically-researched and lab-tested:  With growing research, Scientists are learning more about how collagen protein may be the missing nutritional link in retaining a strong foundation for our body’s tissues (skin, hair, nails). In addition, amino acid peptides play a key role in almost every bodily function, contribute to healthy aging and reduce inflammation.  Uses a grass-fed Halal-certifed collagen protein Hearthy’s useds grass-fed collagen which is of higher-quality due to the fact that the animals it's derived from were raised under extreme high-quality standards. This means that all joints, bones, and tendons remain strong and healthy to produce a higher-quality collagen. Grass-fed collagen fortifies the intestinal lining to promote healthy digestion and immune system function. Therefore, using a grass-fed collagen means you’ll not only gain the skin hydration and strength benefits, but also maximize on gut health benefits including ‘leaky gut’ prevention! How does Hearthy’s Collagen benefit our skin, hair, and nail health? Not only does pure collagen peptide supplementation promote hair and nail growth, skin firmness, hydration, and overall complexion but it has also shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite. A recent study in the journal of food medicine found that regular ingestion of collagen peptides over a period of 6 months led to a clear improvement of skin appearance in women with moderate cellulite. (Schunck et al. 2015). How best to supplement with Hearthy’s Collagen Powder? What’s great about Hearthy’s Collagen is that it is completely flavorless which means it can be added to water, smoothies or even topped over Greek yogurt. Check out our favorite Collagen Acai Bowl recipe here. A common problem with collagen powder supplementation is the formation of large clumps as the powder can congeal when added to a liquid. Hearthy’s Collagen has been scientifically designed to be easily mixable in liquids including hot coffee, lattes, or soups so you can say goodbye to those clumps in your post-workout protein shake! This premium protein has excellent solubility and dispersibility  making it an ideal ingredient for pretty much any liquid or butter. Now you can transform your favorite healthy baked goods into a collagen boosting superfood. Fortunately, collagen peptides can retain chemical structure (and nutritional benefit) under extremely high temperatures.  Watch this video to see how we love to use Hearthy Foods Collagen Peptides. F45 Nutritionist and Trainer Kim Bowman, MS, Discusses The Benefits of Collagen Peptides For Women and Why You Should Take Them

By Kim Bowman, MS, CNP    Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in the body forming our skin and connective tissues along with muscles, ligaments, and tendons. It’s what keeps our skin looking glowing and youthful by optimizing elasticity, firmness, and structure. Unfortunately, the production of this powerhouse protein within the body starts to slow overtime, declining with age. Now, researchers are discovering the supportive effects of regular collagen supplementation on retaining healthy-looking, youthful skin along with numerous other benefits including optimal gut health (see below).  It’s likely you may have seen collagen skincare products available on the market in the form of serums or creams claiming to boost collagen and skin firmness. However, topical collagen isn’t actually able to stimulate collagen production within the body as ‘collagen peptides’ are too large to be absorbed past the outer most layer of our skin--the epidermis. On the other hand, supplementation with a quality collagen powder mixed with a glass of water or in a smoothie allows for the internal absorption of collagen to occur providing greater support for our skin in addition to our joints and gut microbiome. Hearthy’s grass-fed collagen powder provides a rich source of protein (11g/serving) and amino acid peptides which act to minimize inflammation within the body and contribute to a healthy aging process.    What Makes a Quality Collagen Supplement?     A quality collagen powder is produced using ‘collagen peptides’ (also known as hydrolyzed collagen) which are made of the same amino acids as collagen yet are more easily absorbed by our bodies. Collagen peptides are much shorter amino acids than collagen itself allowing them to be taken up more rapidly in our body to stimulate collagen production. Hearthy’s collagen powder uses premium grass-fed, Halal collagen peptides providing Type I and Type III collagen proteins. The best part? Hearthy’s collagen powder is unflavored and extremely soluble which allows it to be easily mixed with water, smoothies, or hot beverages including tea and coffee. Halal collagen may also be added to your favorite homemade baked treats as it has exceptional stability under extreme heat (300˚C)! Daily collagen supplementation has exceptional benefits not just for our skin but for our joints and digestive health as well.   1. Enhanced Skin Health   The combination of dry heat and sunlight along with environmental pollutants can really wreak havoc on our skin overtime. Regular collagen peptide supplementation has shown to not only boost skin moisture and hydration but also increase skin elasticity to minimize wrinkles. Collagen peptides work in two ways to optimize a glowing skin complexion; 1) help produce elastin and fibrillin--two proteins responsible for maintaining skin structure and integrity and 2) stimulate the body to produce collagen on its own.   2. Joint Pain Relief       Degenerative joint conditions including osteoarthritis increases as we age due to declining collagen production overtime. Fortunately, studies observing collagen peptide supplementation have found that daily use can lessen degenerative symptoms of osteoarthritis along with joint-related pain overall. Collagen peptides work by accumulating in the tissue that protects our joints (cartilage) which stimulates the tissues around our joints to produce more collagen. This results in greater protection from joint-related injury and the formation of osteoarthritis as increased collagen production helps to lower inflammation overtime  Aside from our joints, collagen makes up the majority of our bones and studies have found that regular collagen supplementation may inhibit the breakdown of bone leading to osteoporosis. Specifically, collagen peptides may increase bone mineral density while lowering the levels of proteins in the blood responsible for stimulating bone breakdown with age.    3. Promotes Gut Health    Collagen peptide supplementation has also gained popularity in those aiming to improve gut health due to various digestive conditions including ‘leaky gut.’ This condition occurs when toxins or partially digested food particles ‘leak’ through the lining of the gut to induce inflammation or a change in our gut microbiome. Leaky gut occurs when the tight junctions lining the wall of our digestive tract become weakened and has been associated with excess consumption of processed carbohydrates including refined sugar. Those with lower levels of serum collagen have been linked to an increased risk of ‘leaky gut.’ Luckily researchers have found that regular collagen peptide supplementation is likely to help provide the amino acids needed to repair and rebuild the intestinal wall to prevent leaky gut and optimize digestive health!    Shop Hearthy Foods Collagen Here.   References Moskowitz RW. Is Rice Flour Gluten Free: A Burning Question of Today

If you are on a gluten-free diet, you have tons of opportunities for your food choices. You can enjoy the tastiest baked goods, pies, pizzas, or even sweets without worrying about gluten and its potentially dangerous consequences. There are many gluten-free flours you can find on the market. The most popular options include almond, chickpea, buckwheat, quinoa, and more, and you can use them to make the most delicious meals with peace of mind. Apart from being free of gluten, these flours are higher in fiber, vitamins, and minerals that play a significant role in our overall health. But what about rice? Is rice gluten-free? Keep reading to find out more about this super ingredient and its role in a gluten-free diet. TOP 15 GLUTEN-FREE FLOURS TO ENHANCE YOUR WHEAT-FREE DIET What is Rice Flour? Rice flour is a type of flour made from finely milled rice. It is commonly used as a substitute for white wheat flour due to its rich nutritional profile, and it’s a convenient choice for those who want to lose weight or improve their eating habits. Rice flour can be made from either white or brown rice. Both options are suitable for baking, allowing you to bake excellent pies, pizza crust, and baked goods you’ll enjoy. Does Rice Have Gluten? Although rice is a grain, it is gluten-free. That said, you can enjoy it as much as you want, even if you are on a gluten-free diet. All rice is free of gluten, including white, brown, or wild rice. Most gluten-free products contain rice instead of wheat but bear in mind that not all rice-based foods are gluten-free. It is essential to check the product label prior to buying it and see whether it is certified gluten-free. Rice-Based Products vs. Rice Flour If you are gluten intolerant or have celiac disease, you should be careful when buying products marked as rice-based. These foods often contain spices, sauces, and other flavors and ingredients that might have gluten (wheat, rye, barley, etc.). Therefore, all people with gluten disorders shouldn’t consume the product unless labeled “gluten-free.” On the other hand, rice flour often contains only one ingredient free of gluten or flavor enhancers, making it safe to consume. Different types of rice can be used in flour, but the most popular choices include white and brown rice. While both options are convenient for cooking and baking, there is a slight difference between them, which lies in processing and nutritional profile. Brown rice flour is made of brown rice, which is a whole grain that undergoes little change from its original form. Therefore, it retains all three parts of the grain, providing a higher nutritional value and fiber content. As for white rice, it begins as a whole grain, but it undergoes further processing where some parts of the grain are removed. This gives it its white color and a more delicate texture, but unlike brown rice, it has a lower nutritional value. For example, one cup of brown rice flour contains 11.4 grams of protein and 7.3 grams of fiber, while a cup of white rice flour has 5.9 grams of protein and 2.4 of fiber. As for micronutrients, brown rice has three times the amount of iron and five times as much phosphorus, magnesium, B vitamins, and zinc. Despite these differences, both rice flour options are convenient for a gluten-free diet. However, it is essential to read the label before buying a particular product and check whether all the ingredients are gluten-free. Cutting out wheat and whole grains may result in low levels of calcium, zinc, magnesium, iron, fiber, vitamin B-12, vitamin D, iron, folate, etc. Eating rice and rice flour can compensate for the amount of nutrients in whole grain, so it is recommended to include them in your regular diet. Benefits of Brown Rice Gluten Free Flour Being made from whole grain, brown rice flour is an excellent source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Brown rice is generally high in iron and potassium, which is another significant benefit of its consumption. Brown rice gluten-free flour may be advantageous for heart health. It is considered a low glycemic food, which may help control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes when eaten in moderation. Besides, it can help regulate bowel function and prevent different types of cancer. Benefits of White Rice Gluten Free Flour White rice has undergone processing, which led to its white color and slightly softer texture. It lacks some valuable nutrients such as dietary fiber, fatty acids, B vitamins, and iron, but it is still excellent gluten-free food. Consider the following facts before you start baking with rice flours: White rice flour has a milder texture and a more neutral flavor than brown rice flour, which tends to be a bit nutty. Brown rice flour is slightly heavier than white rice flour, and that’s because it is made from whole grain. While it is a superb option for bread, brownies, and cookies, it is not the best choice for airy desserts. Both white and brown rice flours have a grainy texture compared to white wheat flour. Rice Flour Pancakes: A Gem of Gluten-Free Baking Who doesn’t like pancakes? Even if you’re allergic to gluten, you can enjoy this evergreen dessert that comes in so many forms and flavors. The art of baking brings smiles to our faces since it reminds us of a cozy home atmosphere filled with homemade cookies, hot cocoa, and laughter. It is ideal for making pie crusts, biscuits, and chewy bread, but it is not suitable for gluten sensitivity and severe celiac disease. It originates from the Indian subcontinent, and it is often used to make chapati, roti, naan, puri, and similar flatbreads from the Indian cuisine. Since it is mostly composed of hard wheat, atta flour has high gluten content that provides elasticity and allows you to roll the dough into thin sheets. Buy Atta Flour 9.    Bread Flour Bread flour is considered the best flour for baking different kinds of bread. It is composed of hard wheat, so it has a very high protein content (12 – 14%), which provides the bread with the chewiness and better volume. It is a great choice when baking yeasted bread because its protein content will help the bread rise properly. We recommend using bread flour for artisan bread, yeast bread, pretzels, pizza dough, and bagels. 10.     Self-Rising Flour Self-rising flour contains two magical ingredients that make it unique – salt and baking powder. It is mostly made from soft wheat and protein content around 8 to 9 percent. This is one of the best types of flours for baking tender biscuits, muffins, pancakes, and different kinds of cakes. We recommend you make your own self-rising flour by mixing 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 11/2 teaspoons baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon fine salt and use it in a wide variety of baking goods and recipes. 11.    Whole-Wheat Flour The creation of a whole-wheat flour includes milling, during which the wheat kernel is separated into three components – the endosperm, the germ (the embryo), and the bran (outer coating). This type of flour tends to be higher in protein, which is why it creates heavier and denser baked goods. We recommend using whole-wheat flour to bake consistent and high-rising bread, brownies, muffins, cookies, pancakes, buns, pizza crust, and more. What is the FODMAP Diet?

j FODMAP stands for fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols. These are the scientific terms used to classify groups of carbs that are notorious for triggering digestive symptoms like bloating, gas and stomach pain. FODMAPs are found in a wide range of foods in varying amounts. Some foods contain just one type, while others contain several. The main dietary sources of the four groups of FODMAPs include: Oligosaccharides: Wheat, rye, legumes and various fruits and vegetables, such as garlic and onions. Disaccharides: Milk, yogurt and soft cheese. Lactose is the main carb. Monosaccharides: Various fruit including figs and mangoes, and sweeteners such as honey and agave nectar. Fructose is the main carb. Polyols: Certain fruits and vegetables including blackberries and lychee, as well as some low-calorie sweeteners like those in sugar-free gum. The benefits of a low-FODMAP diet have been tested in thousands of people with IBS across more than 30 studies   Reduced Digestive Symptoms IBS digestive symptoms can vary widely, including stomach pain, bloating, reflux, flatulence and bowel urgency. Stomach pain is a hallmark of the condition, and bloating has been found to affect more than 80% of people with IBS Needless to say, these symptoms can be debilitating. One large study even reported that people with IBS said they would give up an average of 25% of their remaining lives to be symptom-free Fortunately, both stomach pain and bloating have been shown to significantly decrease with a low-FODMAP diet. Evidence from four high-quality studies concluded that if you follow a low-FODMAP diet, your odds of improving stomach pain and bloating are 81% and 75% greater, respectively Several other studies have suggested the diet can help manage flatulence, diarrhea and constipation  Stage 1: Restriction This stage involves strict avoidance of all high-FODMAP foods. People who follow this diet often think they should avoid all FODMAPs long-term, but this stage should only last about 3–8 weeks. This is because it is important to include FODMAPs in the diet for gut health. Some people notice an improvement in symptoms in the first week, while others take the full eight weeks. Once you have adequate relief of your digestive symptoms, you can progress to the second stage.   Stage 2: Reintroduction This stage involves systematically reintroducing high-FODMAP foods. The purpose of this is twofold: To identify which types of FODMAPs you tolerate. Few people are sensitive to all of them. To establish the amount of FODMAPs you can tolerate. This is known as your “threshold level.” In this step, you test specific foods one by one for three days each   Stage 3: Personalization This stage is also known as the “modified low-FODMAP diet.” In other words, you still restrict some FODMAPs. However, the amount and type are tailored to your personal tolerance, identified in stage 2. It is important to progress to this final stage in order to increase diet variety and flexibility. These qualities are linked with improved long-term compliance, quality of life and gut health
